The project involved the construction of new offices within the existing first floor light well, the phased demolition of blockwork walls and complete refurbishment, alteration and fit out of the existing Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU unit had to remain in operation throughout the works.
Because of the requirement to keep the NICU open, careful programming and project sequencing ensured that essential care services were maintained while work continued.
While we were on site, the client`s staff, visitors and patients were segregated from contractors to avoid disruption and maintain security to the site and clinical areas.
Because the building housed vulnerable patients, we used specialist plant and building techniques to reduce dust and noise.
